The new Camaro ZL1 Convertible will hit the showrooms later this year to join the hardtop version. Leading up to its release, GM recently announced its price starting at $60,445 inclusive of destination fees. The number reflects a premium of $5,450 over the ZL1 coupe. It is still a bargain though considering its capabilities.
The Camaro ZL1 convertible comes with a supercharged V-8 engine with 6.2L displacement that can give out 580 horses and a torque of 556 pound feet. This power is transferred to the wheels via six-speed manual or six-speed automatic gearbox. This combo can get the car blasting from a stand still to 60 mph in a matter of 4.0 seconds. It can get easily to a top speed of 184 mph.
Comparing the Camaro ZL1 with the convertible Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, the latter has a sticker price of $59,995 with destination charges. The GT500 coupe goes for $54,995 and both vehicles offer a more potent output of 650 horses.
The Camaro ZL1 convertible gets additional braces for its suspension system and also strut tower brae in front to brace its chassis.
The drop top version is not the only new member of the lineup of Camaro for 2013, General Motors will also release the Camaro 1LE considered as a track-focused version. It will come only as a coupe and will be sold for $37,035 inclusive of destination charges.
